FAQs

Below are answers to common questions we receive prior to engagement.

Q1: Can we check the translation quality before placing an order?

Yes. We can provide a short sample translation from a portion of your text (free of charge, with a word limit).
We can also share information on the translator’s area of specialisation and experience where appropriate.

Q2: Are revisions after delivery free of charge?

If revisions to the translation are required, we will respond promptly.
Revisions resulting from changes or additions to the source text will be subject to additional charges.

For long-term projects, we maintain glossaries and past translations to improve consistency and efficiency for future assignments.

Q3: How are translation fees calculated?

Fees are generally based on the word or character count of the source text.
The following factors may affect pricing:

   Possible surcharges

  • Highly specialised content
  • Urgent turnaround
  • Layout adjustment (tables, PowerPoint, etc.)

   Possible discounts

  • Large-volume projects
  • Ongoing assignments
  • Regular clients

Q4: Are repeated sections reflected in the quotation?

Yes.
Repeated text within the same document will be taken into account when preparing the quotation, subject to content review.

Q5: How is the word count calculated?

We use the word count function in Microsoft Word.
For Japanese documents, the total includes Japanese characters, English words, and numbers.

Q6: Our interpreting schedule is not yet confirmed. Can we still consult you?

Yes.
We recommend contacting us early so that suitable interpreters can be tentatively secured even if the schedule is not finalised.

Q7: Is interpreting equipment required?

For simultaneous and whispered interpreting, the use of equipment is generally recommended.

Q8: What costs are involved for overseas or travel assignments?

The following may apply:

  • Airfare or travel expenses
  • Accommodation
  • Daily allowance
  • Travel time / standby charges

Where possible, we may propose locally based interpreters as an alternative.

Q9: How is confidentiality handled?

All data is handled with strict confidentiality.
We have NDAs in place with our translators and partners.
A separate non-disclosure agreement can also be signed with clients upon request.
